Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager (Construction)Are you an experienced Employee Health and Safety professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of safety across major projects?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a project team in Canberra in a key EH&S; leadership role driving the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of EH&S; across all project sites, while aligning with client's requirements and applicable WHS legislation.This role requires an existing NV1 security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.You'll be responsible for providing proactive, hands‐on safety leadership across multiple project sites, working closely with project management, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, clients and regulators to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance.This is a permanent, full‐time role based fully on-site in Canberra.
Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance are essential.Key Responsibilities:Provide EH&S; leadership and advice across multiple project sitesConduct regular site safety walks, Toolbox Talks and safety auditsDevelop, review and approve SWMS, risk assessments, Take 5s and safety plansIdentify, assess and control EH&S; hazardsLead incident, near‐miss and accident investigationsTrack corrective actions through to completionDeliver and coordinate site inductions,



onboarding and EH&S; trainingCoach managers and supervisors to strengthen safety leadershipFacilitate EHS committee meetings, represent the project at client EHS meetings, and deliver monthly performance and trend reportingDrive continuous improvement across EHS systems, processes and documentationWhat You'll Bring:Current NV1 security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearanceMinimum 5 years' experience in an EH&S; management or advisory roleDemonstrated experience within project‐based, field services or construction environmentsStrong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice and applicable standardsExperience developing, implementing and auditing EH&S; management systemsProven ability to develop and approve SWMS, risk assessments and safety plansStrong incident investigation and root‐cause analysis experienceCertificate IV in Work Health & Safety as a minimum, with a Diploma or Degree highly regardedStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to coach and influence people at all levelsCurrent Australian Driver's LicenceYou'll have the opportunity to play a highly visible role in creating a solid safety culture across a complex project environment, while working closely with project leadership, clients, subcontractors and site teams.
