About the RoleWe're seeking a motivated Certified Building Inspector (at a level 2 or above) to lead statutory building certification functions, provide expert technical advice, and ensure protected, compliant development across the region.What your day will look likeYou will support and assist the Manager Development Compliance and Plumbing Services as Council's principal Building CertifierYou will manage regulatory breaches by monitoring,



investigating and reporting on illegal build matters.Provide expert advice to the public on building certification and compliance issues and play a vital role in the safety of the Fraser Coast community.Compilation of evidence for prosecutions where required by Council and where appropriate attend court to act as witness on behalf of Council.Coordinate and undertake regular inspectionsManage and assess development applications for building work as requiredAssist in development & implementation of monitoring programs for high-risk premisesDevelop and modify systems to maximise efficiencies and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.What you'll need for successMinimum QBCC Building Certifier Level 2Expert knowledge of the Building Act ****, the building Regulation ****, relevant building codes, local laws and sound understanding of the Planning Act ****.High level of oral and written communication skillsInterpersonal – listening, advising and negotiation skillsWritten – correspondence and reportsDemonstrated ability to work within a certification and regulatory team including the ability to meet all statutory deadlinesIntermediate to Advanced computer software proficiency in relation to the use of Microsoft Office Suite, RAMS, Document Management systems and other Local Government Software systemsCar LicenseWhat's nice to haveSuitable experience in Town PlanningBenefits of Working with CouncilCommitted to providing quality services to our community, we strongly support an inclusive and values driven culture, recognising your individual skills, knowledge and talent.
