Based in Sydney, the role provides broad exposure across Australian and international corporate tax, GST and VAT, FBT and employment taxes, transfer pricing, global mobility, tax governance and tax technology.
The role is suited to an early-career tax professional who is technically curious, highly organised and keen to develop broad in-house tax capability within a quick-growing ASX-listed multinational business.Responsibilities, Duties And ExpectationsTax CompliancePrepare tax workpapers,
reconciliations, data packs and supporting schedules for Australian and international filingsAssist with BAS/GST, VAT, corporate income tax, FBT, withholding tax and other recurring compliance processesCoordinate information requests and maintain supporting evidence for external advisers, auditors and tax authoritiesMonitor deadlines and update the Group tax compliance calendar and payment trackersTax Accounting and Financial ReportingPrepare account reconciliations, permanent and temporary difference schedules and other tax effect accounting workpapersAssist with current and deferred tax calculations, journals and statutory tax disclosure supportPerform general ledger and transaction reviews to identify potential tax issues and follow up anomaliesTax Governance and RiskMaintain tax risk, advice, compliance, controls and training registersSupport documentation of tax positions, technical analyses, procedures and reliance on external adviceAssist with control testing, evidence retention, audit requests and tax authority information requestsIdentify potential risks, missing information or process weaknesses and escalate them promptlyAdvisory, Research and Business SupportUndertake directed tax technical research and prepare clear draft summaries or memorandaAssist with analysis of contracts, cross-border transactions, employee arrangements and new business initiativesSupport transfer pricing calculations, intercompany recharge processes and international tax projectsWork with Finance, Payroll, People & Performance, Legal,
Commercial and external advisers to obtain and validate tax informationTechnology and Process ImprovementSupport automation of tax calculations, reconciliations and compliance monitoringPerform tax data analysis and assist with transaction testing and exception reportingHelp improve the quality and consistency of tax data captured in Oracle and supporting systemsContribute to continuous improvement of workpapers, checklists, templates and documented proceduresQualifications, Experience And SkillsTertiary qualification in accounting, finance, law or a related disciplineCA, CPA and/or CTA qualified or currently studying towards a relevant professional qualificationApproximately 2-4 years' tax experience in Big 4, mid-tier, boutique or commercial environmentsFoundational understanding of Australian corporate tax, GST and/or FBT principlesStrong Excel and analytical skills, attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentationClear written and verbal communication skillsCuriosity, initiative and willingness to work across a broad range of taxes and occasional cross-functional projectsAbility to work independently on defined tasks while seeking guidance and escalating issues appropriatelyExperience with Oracle, tax software or data analytics tools is advantageousNote for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.Data PrivacyDroneShield Group Pty Ltd collects and processes personal information for recruitment and hiring purposes.
