This is an opportunity to join a leading Tier 2 civil infrastructure contractor where you'll have genuine ownership across project delivery, with a solid focus on the commercial side of construction.You'll be trusted to identify and manage variations, control costs, manage subcontractors and drive project outcomes — rather than simply being responsible for the engineering.The role offers the best of both worlds — predominantly office-based project delivery with regular site visits, giving you the opportunity to stay connected to what's happening on the ground without being tied to site every day.This is not a purely site-based engineering position.
The successful candidate will have a strong interest in the commercial side of project delivery, including variations, cost management, subcontractor administration and contractual matters.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with the end-to-end delivery of civil infrastructure projectsManage project engineering, documentation and technical requirementsWork closely with Project Managers to monitor programme, cost and project performanceIdentify,
prepare and negotiate variations and scope changesAssist with cost forecasting, progress claims and commercial reportingManage subcontractor procurement, performance and contractual administrationReview contracts, scopes, drawings and specificationsIdentify commercial risks, opportunities and potential project impactsManage RFIs, technical queries and consultant/client correspondenceCoordinate with subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and project stakeholdersMaintain accurate project documentation and reportingSupport project close-out, final accounts and commercial reconciliationAbout YouWe're looking for a Project Engineer with a commercial mindset who understands that successful project delivery is about more than just the technical side.You'll ideally have:Civil Engineering qualificationsPrevious experience within civil construction/infrastructureExperience working in a Project Engineer capacityStrong understanding of project delivery and construction methodologiesDemonstrated experience with variations, cost management and commercial administrationGood understanding of subcontractor management and contractual processes
