An opportunity has arisen for an experienced litigation lawyer to join the legal team of a leading global financial services organisation on a 12-month contract.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will play a key role in managing significant disputes, litigation and regulatory matters across Australia and New Zealand.
This position offers a rare opportunity to move in-house while maintaining a strong disputes focus, working closely with senior stakeholders and external counsel on matters that have a direct impact on the business.
The role will see you:
Managing and strategically advising on commercial disputes and litigation matters
Working closely with regulators and responding to regulatory enquiries
Briefing and managing external counsel
Identifying, assessing and escalating legal risks
Advising on matters arising under financial services legislation, including the Corporations Act
Supporting the wider business with legal and regulatory issues as required
Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to a high-performing legal team
What you'll need to succeed




You will be an experienced litigation lawyer with approximately 9+ years' post-admission experience, ideally gained within a leading law firm, financial institution or regulatory workplace.
You will bring:
Strong commercial litigation experience
Exposure to financial services, banking, insurance or regulatory disputes
Experience dealing with complex regulatory frameworks and the Corporations Act
Experience gained at a reputable firm and/or similar in-house role
The ability to provide commercially pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong judgement, initiative and problem-solving capabilities
