You'll be working across an existing Oracle codebase, troubleshooting complex issues, enhancing functionality and delivering controlled changes to business‐critical systems.The initial contract is for 12 months, with the program expected to run for several years and robust potential for ongoing extensions.About the RoleYou'll be responsible for:Developing, maintaining and enhancing applications built on Oracle Database and PL/SQLWorking across complex existing codebases and understanding dependencies between systemsTroubleshooting production and application issues and identifying root causesBuilding and modifying stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers and complex SQLSupporting application enhancements,
releases and ongoing system improvementsWorking with Unix/Linux environments and scriptingReviewing and optimising SQL and PL/SQL where requiredCollaborating with technical and business teams across a large enterprise environmentDelivering changes carefully within established development and release processesAbout YouYou'll be a strong Oracle Developer, rather than a DBA or Data Engineer, with significant hands‐on experience in:Oracle DatabaseComplex SQL developmentUnix/Linux and shell scriptingTroubleshooting and debugging existing enterprise applicationsWorking within large, complex technology environmentsMaintaining and enhancing mature systems rather than working solely on greenfield developmentExperience in any of the following would be highly regarded:Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ)SQL and database performance tuningHigh-volume transactional systemsBilling or metering platformsEnergy, utilities or similarly complex regulated environmentsWhy JoinThis would suit an experienced Oracle Developer who enjoys getting deep into complex systems and solving technical problems, rather than someone looking purely for greenfield development.You'll be joining a significant long-term program with plenty of technical depth, an established enterprise environment and the potential for multiple contract extensions.
