Established in October ****, the business provides prescription dispensing, medication advice and pharmacy products to local residents and visitors.
With a focus on friendly, confidential service, the pharmacy also offers medication delivery throughout the surrounding Clare and Gilbert Valleys communities.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: • Receive prescriptions and check patient medication histories before dispensing prescribed medicines.
• Verify prescribed dosages, administration methods and medicine compatibility to support safe medication use.
• Prepare or supervise the preparation, packaging and labelling of prescribed medications.
• Advise patients on correct medicine use, potential side effects and appropriate storage.
• Consult prescribers to clarify prescriptions and resolve potential medicine interactions or contraindications.
• Review patient medication therapy and identify concerns requiring follow-up with treating practitioners.
• Recommend suitable non-prescription medicines and pharmacy products according to individual customer needs.
• Provide practical advice on health promotion, disease prevention and responsible medicine use.
• Maintain accurate prescription records and documentation for controlled medicines.
• Monitor medicine storage conditions, expiry dates and temperature-sensitive stock.
• Supervise pharmacy support staff and coordinate dispensing activities within the pharmacy.
• Manage pharmaceutical stock levels and arrange replenishment of medicines and pharmacy products.
• Coordinate medication preparation and supply for deliveries to surrounding communities.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable pharmacy standards, procedures and dispensing requirements.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: • Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy or higher relevant qualification recognised for professional pharmacist registration in Australia.
• Hold current pharmacist registration permitting practice in Australia and maintain compliance with applicable qualified registration requirements.
• Have at least 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience as a Pharmacist in a community pharmacy or closely comparable setting.
• Demonstrate competence in prescription assessment, accurate dispensing, medication labelling and identifying clinically relevant interactions and contraindications.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of prescription and non-prescription medicines, including appropriate use, potential side effects and storage requirements.
• Communicate clearly with patients, prescribers and colleagues, providing understandable medication advice while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
• Demonstrate organisational skills to manage dispensing workloads, maintain accurate records and coordinate pharmacy stock and medication supplies.
• Work effectively with pharmacy support staff, providing appropriate supervision and maintaining consistent standards of patient care and service.
