Job Type: Permanent position | Casual positionJob DescriptionCare Compass Collective is a Queensland based NDIS provider delivering psychosocial and mental health focused disability support.
Our support is relationship led, psychology informed and shaped around each person's goals, needs and everyday life.
We deliver in-home support, community participation, mentoring, employment assistance, psychosocial recovery coaching and short-term respite across South East Queensland.About the RoleThe Disability Support Worker delivers day to day support that helps participants work towards their goals, build skills and confidence, and take part in their community and everyday life.
Our participants live with psychosocial and mental health related disability, so much of the work involves showing up consistently, reading a situation well, and adjusting the support to suit the day the person is having.What You Will DoDeliver person centred support in line with each participant's support plan, adjusting your approach to their preferences, communication style and capacity on the daySupport participants to build daily living skills, community access and social connectionAssist with everyday tasks such as meal preparation, household tasks, shopping, appointments and transportProvide personal care where it forms part of a participant's plan, respecting their dignity, privacy and stated preferencesApply trauma informed, recovery oriented and strengths based practiceFollow documented safeguards, risk assessments and behaviour support plans exactly as writtenWrite shift notes in plain, factual, person first language,
and report incidents and safeguarding concerns in line with our proceduresComplete a agile risk check at the start of each shift, and stop or leave a shift where it is unsafe to continueWho We Are Looking ForReliable and consistent, because showing up as agreed is central to building trust with participantsCalm and steady, able to work alongside people experiencing distress without taking it personallyRespectful and non judgemental, meeting people where they are rather than where you think they should beWilling to ask questions and escalOpen to feedback and interested in developing your practiceOpen to feedback and interested in developing your practiceWhat You NeedCurrent NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain oneCurrent Working with Children Check (Blue Card) HLTAID011 ProvideFirst Aid and HLTAID009 Provide CPR Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module, or willingness to complete it before commencing Current Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured and registered vehicleSound written communication skills for shift notes, incident reports and handover, and confident use of a smartphone app for rostering and documentation Current right to work in Australia WELL REGARDEDA Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or Mental Health, or equivalent experience Previous experience supporting people with psychosocial or mental health related disability Mental HealthFirst Aid, or training in trauma informed practice or de-escalation
