Salary - $81 - $92 Per Hour
Our federal government client is seeking an experienced Policy Officer to contribute to high-profile policy and reform initiatives that have a direct impact on the movement of people and goods across Australia.
Working within a collaborative policy team, you will help develop and implement national policy and regulatory reforms that support protected, productive, sustainable and efficient transport outcomes. You will contribute to a range of projects spanning infrastructure, freight and supply chains, regulatory reform, emerging policy challenges, and intergovernmental initiatives, while taking ownership of key pieces of work and driving outcomes across stakeholders and project teams.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex policy matters, demonstrate leadership through influence and collaboration, engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, and provide timely, evidence-based advice to senior decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking research and analysis on complex policy issues.
- Synthesising information from multiple sources to develop practical policy solutions.
- Preparing high-quality briefing materials, reports, submissions, correspondence and presentations.
- Leading aspects of project planning, coordination and delivery across a range of policy initiatives.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders across government, industry and the broader community.
- Contributing strategic advice for senior executives and government on policy, legislative and program matters.
- Assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of policy reforms.
About You
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex information, exercise sound judgement and develop well-reasoned recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities, with the ability to influence outcomes and navigate competing perspectives.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to lead pieces of work, build consensus and contribute to shared outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience working in a policy, regulatory, program or government environment.
- Exposure to intergovernmental policy issues and collaboration across jurisdictions.
- Experience contributing to complex policy reform initiatives.
- Research, economic analysis, data analysis or evidence-based policy development experience.
- Understanding of legislative, regulatory or governance frameworks.
