The Prospect:
- 2 x Full-Time Positions | Ongoing contracts of employment.
- PW3 $64,076 - $69,189 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
- Chadstone Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport.
Holmesglen’s Property Services Department maintains safe, functional and welcoming campuses across the Institute. The team delivers day-to-day maintenance, cleaning and asset support to ensure our buildings, grounds and facilities are well maintained and support a positive experience for students and staff.
The Maintenance Officer – Grounds is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining Holmesglen’s grounds, landscaped areas and outdoor facilities across our metropolitan campuses.
You will undertake a range of grounds maintenance activities including turf care, planting, pruning, watering, irrigation maintenance and upkeep of pathways, car parks and outdoor spaces. You will also assist with broader Property Services activities, including setting up classrooms and event spaces when required.
As a Maintenance Officer, you will:
- Apply practical horticultural knowledge across a varied range of grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, pruning, watering, turf care and fertilising,
in accordance with established schedules and horticultural practices.
- Inspect trees, plants, irrigation systems and outdoor areas to identify maintenance needs, plant health concerns, hazards and equipment faults, selecting appropriate solutions from established techniques and referring complex, high-risk or non-routine matters to the supervisor.
- Maintain footpaths, pathways, car parks and outdoor communal areas by removing waste and debris, undertaking cleaning and minor repairs, and applying approved fertilisers, pesticides and treatments in accordance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Plan, prioritise and organise allocated grounds maintenance activities under routine supervision, determining appropriate task sequences, work methods, materials and equipment to meet established schedules and operational requirements.
- Operate, maintain and undertake routine safety checks and minor repairs on irrigation systems, grounds equipment and landscaping tools, ensuring equipment is used safely, efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer and workplace requirements.
To be successful, you’ll have:
Mandatory
- Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, Landscaping or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant qualifications and substantial grounds maintenance experience.
- Current Victorian Driver Licence.
Desirable
- Chemical User Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
- Forklift Licence, or willingness to obtain.
- Manual Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain
WWCC and Police Check:
Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
