This is a hands-on position working in an outdoor steel yard. You'll be responsible for safely handling materials, preparing customer orders and supporting the team with general yard operations. You'll be working independently for most of the day, so we're looking for someone who is self motivated, reliable, and able to manage their workload without constant supervision. This isn't always a quick paced environment. There will be times where there are quieter periods so the ability to stay productive and work unsupervised is important.
Key responsibilities
- Loading and unloading trucks using a forklift
- Picking, packing and preparing customer orders
- Putting stock away and maintaining an organised yard
- Conducting daily forklift safety and pre-start checks
- General yard duties and housekeeping
- Basic welding and steel preparation as required
- Maintaining a safe and organised work environment
- Occasional local deliveries when required
About you
- Current Forklift Licence
- Valid Australian drivers licence
- Welding experience (desirable but not essential)
- Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Happy working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Punctual, motivated and willing to get stuck in
- Light Rigid (LR) or Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence for occasional local deliveries (desirable but not essential)
- Steel industry knowledge or experience (desirable but not essential)
