Support Worker - SIL Transition Program | Jamboree Heights / Redbank Plains
Location: Jamboree Heights (transitioning to Redbank Plains) Employment Type: Casual with ongoing Permanent Part-Time opportunities Industry: Disability Support
About the Role
CSBS is seeking experienced and dedicated Support Workers to support a young adult participant as he transitions from living at home into a 24/7 Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment.
Initially, support will be provided through extended day shifts from approximately 8:00am to 7:00pm, with 3 to 4 shifts available per week. As the participant transitions into his new SDA home in Redbank Plains, support will expand to a full 24/7 roster with a variety of shift types and ongoing opportunities for stable Permanent Part-Time employment.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a participant's long-term journey, helping establish routines, build trust, and support a successful transition into independent living.
About the Participant
The participant is a man in his late 20's with complex support needs who is non-verbal and requires consistent, person-centred support.
He enjoys being actively engaged and advantages from support workers who can participate in a range of activities and provide structured, consistent support. At times, behaviours of concern may be present, including self-injurious behaviours and property damage. Comprehensive behaviour support strategies are in place, and successful applicants will be supported to follow established plans and positive behaviour support practices.
Building trust is essential in this role. The participant responds best to support workers who are calm, confident, genuine, and consistent in their approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support at home and in the community
- Support daily living, routines, and participation in meaningful activities
- Implement behaviour support strategies and follow support plans
- Assist with community access and recreational activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
- Work collaboratively with family members and the wider support team
- Promote independence, choice, and quality of life
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Confident, calm, and resilient when supporting complex needs
- Physically active and happy to participate in regular community activities
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing consistent support
- Patient, nurturing, and relationship-focused
- Comfortable building trust over time and maintaining professional boundaries
- Able to follow support plans and established routines consistently
- A strong communicator with clear spoken English
- Experienced in disability support, behavioural support, SIL, or similar environments
- Able to remain composed and solution-focused in challenging situations
Essential Requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Current Driver Licence and reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Full Australian working rights
