The Role
The Executive Director Regulatory Integration is the principal adviser to the Director-General and Deputy Director-General on strategic, organisational and operational matters. You will provide enterprise-wide oversight, coordination and integration across regulatory, legal, security and corporate functions, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into coordinated action and measurable outcomes. Operating in a complex environment, you will:
- Provide strategic advice to support executive decision-making.
- Lead the coordination and execution of enterprise priorities.
- Drive organisational integration and a "One ANNPSR" approach to delivery.
- Maintain oversight of organisational performance, risks, issues and commitments.
- Support effective governance, accountability and organisational stewardship.
- Coordinate responses to significant risks, emerging issues and critical matters.
- Foster trusted relationships across Government, Defence, regulators and key stakeholders.
- Support the continued development and maturity of an independent statutory regulator.
This role requires a leader who can seamlessly move between strategic thinking and practical delivery aligning and coordinating activity across the organisation, building shared ownership and bringing people along on the journey, while maintaining a focus on organisational effectiveness, regulatory integrity and enterprise outcomes.
About our Team
The Office of the Director-General is a small team comprising APS and ADF staff. The Executive Director Regulatory Integration will replace the current Chief of Staff role, providing leadership and coordination across the Office while bringing a broader focus on regulatory integration and enterprise outcomes. The Office is responsible for coordinating cross-Agency activities, governance, security and facilities, as well as managing senior executive engagements. The team operates relatively independently within a flat reporting structure,
with all members expected to contribute flexibly to priority activities, connect and coordinate effort across the Agency, and work effectively with uncertainty and under limited direction to achieve Agency outcomes.

- Solid understanding of governance, accountability, assurance and risk management frameworks.
- Experience supporting senior executives to meet legislative and organisational obligations.
- Ability to manage sensitive and high-consequence issues with discretion and professionalism.
Communication and Influence
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience preparing executive, ministerial or parliamentary documentation.
- Ability to engage, negotiate and influence senior stakeholders.
Leadership
- Proven ability to foster high-performing teams and a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated leadership through influence, professional credibility and sound judgement.
