The Opportunity
We are looking for multiple Technical Leads, who are mission-focused and can drive strategic technical solutions, engineering design principles & best practices, as well as guide technical staff to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced operational setting. Not all of these roles have a requirement for hands-on technical skills and ‘on the tools’ input, but candidates must have the ability and desire to work in a highly technical environment.
ASD Technical Leads are expected to engage across ASD, Defence and wider government as necessary to achieve ASD’s strategic objectives. They are required to provide expertise in translating business requirements from technical and non-technical users into the design of appropriate solutions and therefore must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. They will have the ability to problem solve, demonstrate strong leadership qualities, apply solid lateral thinking, and have sound independent judgement.
These roles will be paired with at-level Team Leads, who provide ongoing management and direction of the team. Team and Technical Leads collaborate closely to bring cohesive leadership to highly technical teams.
This is a bulk recruitment round with requirements spanning across a range of teams. As such, we are looking for individuals with deep experience in one of a number of technical fields, including:

- Motivate and mentor the technical workforce, aligning complementary skills and allocate resources in a manner that delivers results.

- Implement technical knowledge and processes within a specialist field to develop advancements to established technical code of practices, techniques, methods and regulations.
- Work collaboratively, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and influence the work of teams.
- Assess technical packages, reports, processes and product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, review recommendations for continuous improvements and corrective actions.
- Evaluate and ensure that the delivered capability meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, and implement actions.
- Evaluate technical activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation.
- Manage workflows, resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
