The opportunity

Are you a paraplanner or adviser looking for a change of direction? Are you an experienced Compliance Officer ready to take the next step in your career?

Join Spark Financial Group, a growing, purpose-driven financial services business, and play a key role in supporting a national group of Authorised Representatives while helping foster a strong culture of quality, professionalism and compliance.

This is more than a traditional compliance role. As a Professional Standards and Compliance Manager, you’ll build trusted relationships with advisers, provide practical guidance, support quality advice outcomes and help shape a framework that enables advisers to do their best work.

Spark Financial Group operates two Australian Financial Services Licences — Axies Pty Ltd and Spark Advisors Australia Pty Ltd — with offices in Brighton, Victoria and Brisbane CBD. This role will be based in our Brisbane CBD office.

Reporting to the Head of Professional Standards & Compliance, you’ll join an experienced and collaborative team with genuine scope to broaden your expertise, contribute ideas and develop your career within a highly respected team with a professional reputation in the Australian market which in turn sees our business continue to grow year on year.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be a trusted point of contact for a panel of advisers, providing practical and timely compliance support across their advice activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Building strong, collaborative relationships with your adviser panel and becoming their go-to person for compliance questions.

- Identifying, evaluating, reporting and managing compliance risks.

- Conducting advice pre-vetting and advice audits.

- Providing one-on-one coaching and guidance to advisers.

- Delivering training and development opportunities across the group.

- Supporting advisers and staff to understand and meet financial advice compliance requirements.

- Contributing to compliance projects and initiatives across the business.

- Helping identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and the overall advice and compliance framework.

We’re looking for someone who can bring technical knowledge and sound compliance judgement, while also taking a practical, relationship-focused approach to working with advisers.

Why join Spark Financial Group?

Purpose with impact

Spark Financial Group is a 100% Profit-for-Purpose financial services group. As we continue to grow, we’re also investing in initiatives designed to improve the wellbeing of people in need.

That means you’ll have the opportunity to build your career while contributing to a business with a purpose beyond financial performance.

A place to grow

You’ll join a highly respected professional team with a strong reputation in the Australian financial services market. With a diverse range of responsibilities and exposure to advisers across the business, this role offers plenty of opportunity to expand your skills, take on new challenges and shape your career.

As a valued member of the team, you’ll enjoy:

- Competitive salary package.

- A professional, collaborative and supportive working environment.

- Flexible working arrangements following successful completion of probation.

- A diverse range of activities that will utilise and build on your existing skills and experience.

- Opportunities to contribute ideas, innovation and improvements across the business.

- Access to employee perks, including the Spark Employee Assistance Program and discounts from a range of commercial providers.

- The opportunity to be part of a growing organisation with a genuine social purpose.

About you

You’ll be an experienced financial services professional who enjoys working with people, solving problems and helping advisers deliver quality outcomes.

You’ll ideally bring:

- At least 2 years’ experience in a Compliance, Paraplanning or Associate Adviser role.

- Strong knowledge of the Australian financial planning industry, including the advice process, concepts, strategies and compliance requirements.

- Excellent relationship management and communication skills.

- Strong attention to detail and sound analytical skills.

- Relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications.

- Experience using Xplan.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

- A willingness to challenge the status quo, contribute new ideas and identify opportunities for innovation.

- Experience managing complaints, incidents and/or reportable events will be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively and can balance technical compliance requirements with a practical, commercial and adviser-focused approach.
