About the Role
Maintenance Systems Solutions (MSS) is seeking an experienced Shutdown Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I;) Planner to support shutdown preparation, execution and close-out at a major LNG facility on Curtis Island.
Based in Gladstone, you will work closely with Shutdown, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply, contractors and vendors to develop detailed, execution-ready E&I; work packs that support safe, efficient and successful shutdown delivery.
The role offers a 12-month contract with flexibility to work from home when not required on site. Candidates living within commuting distance of Gladstone will be considered, provided they are comfortable travelling to Curtis Island by ferry when required.
Working Arrangements:
- Normal Operations (until April): Monday to Friday, 8-hour days.
- Shutdown (April to July): 12-hour days, working a 13/1 rotation for 35 days.
- Location: Gladstone / Curtis Island, Queensland.
- Flexibility: Work from home when site attendance is not required.
- Duration: 12 months.
- Rate: $90–$100/hr + super.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed, execution-ready E&I; shutdown work packs, including job steps, labour, durations, tools, materials, permits, isolations, access requirements and quality documentation.
- Field-validate shutdown scope across electrical equipment, instrumentation, control systems, analysers and associated infrastructure.
- Identify and resolve scope gaps,
technical constraints and constructability issues before scope freeze.
- Confirm drawings, bills of materials, vendor information, inspection and test requirements, temporary facilities and specialist resources.
- Incorporate safety, environmental, hazardous-area, process safety and simultaneous-operations requirements into shutdown work packs.
- Coordinate procurement, long-lead materials, repairable items, vendor representatives, specialist services and contractor inputs.
- Support shutdown schedulers in developing activity logic, durations, resource loading, constraints and interfaces.
- Maintain accurate SAP PM notifications, work orders, task lists, materials, planning status and work-order histories.
- Provide planning and technical support during shutdown execution, including emergent work and approved change control.
- Complete post-shutdown close-out, including material reconciliation, work-order history, lessons learned and future planning improvements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated E&I; shutdown planning experience within LNG operations or a comparable major maintenance environment.
Key requirements include:
- Demonstrated Electrical & Instrumentation planning experience on LNG shutdowns, turnarounds or major maintenance events.
- Recognised electrical or instrumentation trade qualification, engineering qualification or equivalent technical background.
- Strong understanding of LNG shutdown preparation, scope freeze, readiness assurance,
execution and reinstatement.
- Advanced SAP PM experience, including work orders, notifications, task lists, materials management and close-out.
- Experience developing detailed, execution-ready E&I; shutdown work packs.
- Technical knowledge of electrical distribution, motors, variable-speed drives, instrumentation, control valves, analysers, PLC/DCS interfaces and hazardous-area requirements.
- Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs;, cause-and-effect diagrams, datasheets and vendor documentation.
- Experience coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply, contractors and vendors.
- Strong understanding of permit-to-work, isolation, process safety and shutdown change control requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, organisational and problem-solving skills.
