TMR has a permanent vacancy for an Environmental Officer to join our Environmental and Cultural Heritage team based in Bundaberg or Gympie.
The purpose of the Environmental Officer is to provide environmental management advice and guidance to enable the department to meet the Government's environmental obligations and commitments.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide specialist advice on environmental management and compliance issues in the development of road investment strategies, road link studies, the planning and design of road improvement projects and the construction and maintenance phases of district operations.
• Assist in the supervision of road construction and maintenance contracts in relation to environmental management, including compliance, auditing and reporting; ensuring all legislative and departmental obligations are met.
• Review and/or contribute to the preparation of Review of Environmental Factors/Impact Assessments & Management Plans in the district.
• Assist in the implementation of departmental policies, methodologies, standards and specifications across the district to maximise environmental management.
• Identify the need for, and deliver environmental training of district staff and associated stakeholders.
• Provide district input in the TMR Quarterly Environmental Report and to operate in accordance with the departmental Environmental Management System.
• To collect environmental data for inclusion in the state wide environmental database.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Degree qualification from a tertiary institution in environmental science, environmental management, environmental planning, resource management, environmental engineering or other equivalent qualifications.
• Current C class driver's licence
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
