This is an prospect to make a meaningful contribution to the quality, safety and integrity of Queensland's early childhood education and care sector.
As a Principal Regulatory Officer, you will have the opportunity to work on complex regulatory matters, influence regulatory practice, provide expert advice and contribute to continuous improvement across the regulatory system.

Your opportunity:
- Supports the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority by consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regional offices, and ECEC providers and services to achieve regulatory outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.
- Leading and coordinating projects and initiatives that support continuous improvement, innovation and operational efficiency across regulatory functions, particularly assessment and rating.
- Driving moderation and quality assurance activities to promote consistent,
evidence-based regulatory decision-making and practice across the team.
- Analysing data, trends and outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement and inform strategic and operational priorities.
- Building capability within the team through coaching, mentoring, feedback and the sharing of best practice.
- Working collaboratively with regional and state-wide colleagues to implement priorities, improve processes and achieve consistent regulatory outcomes.
- Developing and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders to support quality outcomes and a culture of continuous improvement.

The successful applicant will have the following qualities:
- Experience in the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector and/or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of regulating the ECEC sector;
- Experience in conducting assessment and rating or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and complete training in conducting assessment and rating;
- Strong regulatory knowledge and the ability to apply legislation, policy and risk-based regulatory practices to achieve quality outcomes.
- Highly developed analytical skills, including the ability to prioritise, and identify risks, trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Experience leading change, driving innovation and implementing improvements to enhance operational effectiveness and regulatory outcomes.
- Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver initiatives that improve processes and support the achievement of organisational priorities.
- Sound judgement and decision-making capabilities when managing complex regulatory matters and quality assurance processes.
- The ability to lead, mentor and support others to build capability and promote consistent regulatory practice.
- Demonstrated ability to provide, receive and apply constructive feedback to support capability development, strengthen regulatory practice and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and manage complex or sensitive issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide strategic advice and prepare high-quality reports, briefings and correspondence.
