Position Information
Barramurra Public School serves a rapidly growing multicultural community of 1240 students with 62% of our students having a language background other than English. 3% of our students identify as Aboriginal and our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Barramurra Public School has 4 support classes catering for students with a moderate intellectual disability and autism. The school encourages a holistic and inclusive approach, supported by strong student wellbeing programs.
Barramurra Public School has established strong relationships with the community and provides a range of extracurricular activities in sport, science, technology, and creative and performing arts, which enable all students the opportunity to excel through a range of experiences in an equitable and outstanding learning environment. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5.
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and extensive experience teaching students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities (moderate) and supporting complex learning needs including communication, wellbeing and challenging behaviour.
Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead a support unit and manage the dual roles of Assistant Principal and exemplary classroom teacher with an extensive and deep knowledge of curriculum differentiation, student centred teaching and the development of high quality individual educational learning programs.
Proven ability to provide highly visible, inclusive and cooperative leadership to build the capacity of all staff and work with the school leadership team to facilitate whole school practices which improve the learning and wellbeing outcomes of all students across the school.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven capacity to initiate, nurture and sustain collaborative connections and partnerships with staff, families and the wider school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
