We are seeking a capable, practical and enthusiastic Unit Support Officer to join our outdoor and environmental education centre.

As Unit Support Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality education programs by maintaining our facilities, grounds, equipment and learning environments.

You will contribute to the day-to-day operation of the centre while supporting students and staff across a diverse range of outdoor, environmental and educational activities.

This is an opportunity to do more than maintain a facility — you'll help create the environment in which students learn, explore and connect with the outdoors.

About us:

At Columboola Environmental Education Centre we aim to provide quality environmental education experiences for a wide range of client groups. Experiences offered to visiting groups are aimed at enhancing visitors' knowledge, skills and appreciation of the natural and social environment, both here at Columboola and the wider community.

Programs are designed in consultation with visiting staff and are linked to the National Curriculum across the strands of personal and social capabilities, science, outdoor learning and art.

Columboola EEC can facilitate programs either on site at Columboola EEC, offsite at approved locations and day 'incursions' at your school. In the past we have provided support in programs such as at Carnarvon Gorge, Noosa Everglades, and across South West Queensland.





Our aim is to deliver quality educational programs for our client schools and develop productive partnerships through excellence in outdoor and environmental education.

Your opportunity:

- Contribute to the education of students by creating and developing appropriate facilities and physical resources for use in outdoor and environmental education programs.
- Maintain centre facilities and physical resources to enable programs to be conducted in a safe, serviceable and hygienic environment.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain the centre's grounds, buildings, facilities, equipment and machinery.
- Carry out routine and emergency maintenance and repairs, including plant, equipment, utilities and safety systems.
- Support outdoor, environmental education and camp programs, including practical activities and equipment setup.
- Maintain gardens, nursery areas, trails, firebreaks and natural learning areas.
- Manage camping and general equipment, tools and consumables.
- Provide basic office and administrative support.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the supervisor.
