Glenala State High School is seeking applications for two temporary full-time positions as Head of Department, Senior Schooling from 21 January 2027 until 25 March 2027, unless otherwise determined.
One role will be dedicated to Pathway Options for students and encompass the running of the school's Trade Skills Centre and the other will be about the improvement of academic outcomes for senior students. With the second role leading the continued development of the Trade Skills Centre and the other one will focus on QCAA compliance and department policies as well as Year 11 and 12 student tracking. We will work with individual skill sets and experience.

Your opportunity:
The Head of Department, Senior Schooling positions will work closely with the Deputy Principal Senior Schooling to ensure alignment to strategic priorities, support curriculum implementation and develop a culture of learning and engagement for the senior school, leading to improved pathways and outcomes for students.
You will establish and promote high standards for student achievement and staff performance, providing leadership and guidance to teachers to strengthen curriculum delivery and teaching practice.
You will encourage a culture of reflection, skilled growth and lifelong learning, supporting staff to engage in ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
A key responsibility will be embedding socially just practices in daily school life and promoting an inclusive learning environment where all students are supported to participate and achieve. You will work collaboratively with staff to identify and respond to student needs while maintaining a strong focus on quality teaching and learning.
As a member of the school leadership team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of school improvement priorities, build effective working relationships and provide support and direction to staff. Through your leadership, you will help foster a culture of collaboration, high expectations and shared responsibility for student and staff success.
