About this job
Position Information
Berrima Public School is a small rural school in the Southern Highlands, with a current enrolment of 161 students, 4% of whom identify as Aboriginal. Our size allows us to know our students and families well, while providing rich learning experiences and opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Our school motto, “Growing hearts and minds of lifelong learners,” reflects our broader commitment to growing great learners and excellent humans. We hold high expectations for learning and believe that every child should be known, valued, challenged and supported to thrive. Our approach brings together evidence-informed teaching, inclusive practice and a strong focus on student wellbeing, belonging and connection. Our staff are committed to continually strengthening their practice. We value collaboration, professional dialogue and a willingness to learn alongside one another. School improvement is collective work, with staff encouraged to contribute their expertise, question practice, use evidence and take shared responsibility for improving outcomes for students. At Berrima, we think broadly about the conditions children need to learn and thrive. Alongside high-quality teaching, our students benefit from opportunities for play, physical activity, connection with nature, creativity and leadership. Our established whole-school food program provides students with nutritious, chef-prepared morning tea and lunch each day and reflects our commitment to supporting the whole child and building healthy habits for life. We are fortunate to have a highly engaged and supportive community. Strong partnerships with families, local organisations and the wider community enrich the experiences available to our students and are an important part of the life of our school.
