RETURN TO WORK COORDINATOR – Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is seeking a proactive and dedicated Return to Work Coordinator to lead the delivery of our injury management and workers’ compensation portfolio.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will support the health, wellbeing and recovery of our employees by coordinating injury management processes, developing effective return-to-work plans and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.

Your Role

As Return to Work Coordinator, you will manage workplace injury and illness cases from initial notification through to recovery and resolution. You’ll coordinate suitable duties and return-to-work plans, support workers’ compensation claims and partner with managers, medical practitioners, insurers and internal teams to achieve safe, sustainable outcomes for our employees.

Where you’ll make an impact





- Coordinate end-to-end injury management and workers’ compensation claims from commencement through to resolution
- Lead return-to-work processes for employees with work-related injuries or illnesses
- Develop, implement and monitor suitable duties and return-to-work plans in consultation with treating practitioners, managers and the WHS team
- Coordinate early-intervention programs, rehabilitation services and recovery-at-work initiatives
- Support employees managing both work-related and non-work-related injuries or illnesses
- Liaise with healthcare providers, insurers, rehabilitation providers and internal stakeholders to maintain coordinated case management
- Ensure injury management and workers’ compensation practices comply with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Provide practical advice to managers on injury prevention, early intervention, suitable duties and claims management
- Partner with HR Business Partners, WHS, Recruitment, Staff Accommodation, Learning and Development and operational teams to provide coordinated employee support
- Coordinate Employee Assistance Program services and employee health-monitoring initiatives
- Conduct welfare checks and departmental visits to identify employees or areas requiring additional support
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records, documentation and reporting
- Identify opportunities to strengthen injury prevention, employee wellbeing and return-to-work outcomes

What we’re looking for





You are an experienced return-to-work or injury management professional who approaches every case with empathy, resilience and sound judgement.

You communicate confidently with employees, managers, healthcare professionals and insurers and can manage sensitive or complex matters with professionalism and discretion. Organised and proactive, you understand the importance of early intervention, clear communication and practical recovery plans that support both the employee and the workplace.

To be successful, you’ll need

- Three to five years’ experience within Human Resources, Workplace Health and Safety, counselling or a related field
- At least three years’ experience managing end-to-end workers’ compensation claims and injury management
- Experience supporting both work-related and non-work-related injuries or illnesses
- Strong knowledge of injury management, suitable duties and return-to-work practices
- The ability to interpret and apply relevant workers’ compensation legislation and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation
- A high level of confidentiality, resilience and sound judgement
- Strong organisation, case management and documentation skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Return to Work Coordinator certification for Queensland and New South Wales would be highly regarded
