The Opportunity
The City of Perth, Work Health and Safety (WHS) team is looking for a permanent part-time WHS Officer. The roster pattern offers flexibility, with a minimum commitment of three days per week and up to 37.5 hours per fortnight. The role supports the WHS & Wellbeing Manager in preparing and analysing reports, and driving continuous improvement across WHS and wellbeing systems, processes, and documentation.
In the recent years, there has been big changes in the legislative framework impacting safety and local government in general, requiring ICT systems and internal processes to be reviewed and improved. If you enjoy analysing data and analysing processes, collaborating, finding a better way of doing things, and influencing a protected workplace, this is a role where you’ll feel right at home.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with monthly and quarterly WHS reporting, extracting data and compiling graphs for analysis
- Process Health Lifestyle reimbursements, and coordinate health and wellbeing initiatives, skin checks, vaccinations, ergonomic assessments, fitness passport registrations
- Maintain WHS registers (inspections, training registers and nominated emergency wardens, first aiders and HSRs)
- Prepare intranet news articles,
safety alerts and toolbox topics
- Coordinate WHS team and committee meetings, agendas and minutes
- Prepare training compliance reports, conduct gap analysis and inform stakeholders about training needs
- Document control for WHS procedures, forms, registers and templates, ensuring version control and accessibility using City approved ICT systems
- Purchase order and invoice management
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety;
- Demonstrated knowledge of work health and safety legislation and how this is practically applied;
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage, influence and educate.
- Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously.

Eligibility
To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:
- A right to work in Australia (e.g. a birth certificate, current passport or current visa);
- A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
