The Role
Within the Contract Management Function, an EL 2 Contract Management Director works with considerable independence is accountable to perform and achieve very complex, contract management work within an integrated workforce. They will require extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policies requirements.
As the EL 2 Contract Management Director, you will exercise a significant degree of independence and perform an important leadership role. You will be responsible for influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of Defence objectives based on high-level decision-making and judgement. You will provide strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders as well as leading and assuming accountability for very complex work or work programs that have strategic, political or operational significance.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Works Program team operates on a two director model, with the focus of the Director Estate Works – Contracts being responsible for core procurement and contract management across the Defence Estate. The team is a highly skilled, geographically dispersed team of APS and ADF professionals who are deeply committed to sustaining the Defence estate through establishing contracts; contract management and administration; contract performance management together with audit responsibilities all of which are essential to maintaining operational readiness and capability.
This complies with legislation and supports the daily activities of groups and services at across Defence facilities.
