About the Role

Block Air Industries is seeking a practical, reliable Trades Assistant to join our busy sheet metal fabrication workshop in Dubbo. You’ll work directly alongside our qualified sheet metal tradespeople and fabricators, assisting with the cutting, folding, assembly, and preparation of custom ductwork and metal components.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on physical work, working with tools, and contributing to high-quality workshop manufacturing and site deliveries in the Orana region.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist qualified sheet metal workers with cutting, bending, rolling, and assembling metal sheet components and ductwork.

- Operate basic workshop machinery (guillotines, folders, drills, grinders) safely under supervision.

- Prepare materials, measure, mark, and deburr metal sheets prior to fabrication.

- Load, unload, and secure fabricated stock for delivery or installation sites.

- Keep the workshop, tools, machinery, and work areas clean, organised, and safe.

- Follow job sheets, technical drawings, and strict workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines.

Key Requirements





- White Card: Current NSW Construction Induction Card.

- Hand & Power Tool Skills: Practical experience using basic workshop tools safely.

- Physical Fitness: High level of physical fitness—comfortable lifting sheet metal stock and standing for extended workshop shifts.

- Aptitude: High attention to detail, robust spatial awareness, and good basic maths skills for measuring.

- Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, and keen to learn the trade.

- Location: Based in or near Dubbo, NSW.

Desirable (Not Essential):

- Forklift licence (HRWL).

- Driver's Licence: Current valid Australian Driver's Licence (manual preferred).

- Previous experience in sheet metal, boilermaking, roofing, or general metal manufacturing.
