Full-time | Long-term project through to 2028
Fuzlec is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team on a major infrastructure project in Canberra, ACT.
This is a long-term position, with the current project expected to continue through to 2028.
The role would suit either:
- A Canberra/ACT-based operator looking for secure, long-term work; or
- A Melbourne/Victoria-based operator who is happy to work away from home.
- The Role
You will be involved in civil works associated with electrical and infrastructure construction, including:
- Excavation and trenching for underground services
- Excavating around existing services
- Installation of conduits and pits
- Detailed excavation and preparation works
- Backfilling and reinstatement
- Reading plans and working to levels
- Operating excavators and associated plant
- Driving company trucks as required
- Working closely with electricians and civil crews
- Assisting with general civil duties when required
What We're Looking For
To be considered, you will need:
- Strong excavator experience within civil construction
- Experience working around underground services
- Trenching, conduit and pit installation experience
- Current HR truck licence
- Excavator competency/tickets
- Construction Industry White Card
- Current driver's licence
- Strong understanding of safe excavation practices
- Ability to read plans and work to levels
- Valuable communication and teamwork
- A practical, hands-on attitude
- Willingness to assist outside the machine when required
- Experience in electrical infrastructure, utilities, water, sewer or similar civil projects will be highly regarded.
- Additional plant tickets, skid steer/loader experience and GPS machine-control experience would also be advantageous.
