Physiotherapy at Evolving Pain
This work will stretch you. Complex pain doesn’t come with easy wins, and some weeks will be slow, heavy, and humbling. If that’s exactly why you want in, not despite it, keep reading.
About Evolving Pain
We built the clinic we wished we’d had: a team who gets complexity, so no clinician has to figure it out alone. Pain physiotherapy is a different paradigm, and we treat it that way. We’re big nerds about it. We’re involved in clinical trials and teaching, and every clinician here is mentored by multiple practitioners with different experience and different perspectives, including our director. Each clinician’s differences are our strength.
It’s also, genuinely, a warm place to come to work. Clients tell us our clinic feels like home, and our team would say the same: there’s laughter in the hallway, time to actually sit with someone, and colleagues who have your back on the harder days.
The role
You’re a few years into your career, with a genuine interest in musculoskeletal physio and the drive to build toward complex pain work. You don’t need to be titled yet, but you’re hungry to get there.
This is a caseload with range: a mix of MSK and acute work alongside complex pain, aiming for roughly 50:50 so you build confidence without burning out. You’re comfortable seeing compensable clients, including NDIS, DVA, TAC and WorkSafe; this work is well supported here and helps build your own list while you establish yourself. None of this is easy work, and we won’t pretend otherwise. It’s also some of the most rewarding you’ll do.
We’re currently looking to grow our women’s and pelvic health service, so an interest in this area (existing or developing) is a real plus,
working alongside our ACP Specialist in this space.
3+ days a week, with flexibility on which days.
What you’ll get
Multiple mentors, including our director, because pain is too complex to learn from just one perspective. A senior clinician available every day in your first month. PD funding, annual team retreats and quarterly connection days with dedicated PD time. Adaptable days and work from home.
Time to actually think: we don’t run a 20 minute churn clinic, so you get the space to assess, listen and get it right. Above award pay, plus a bonus structure.
You’ll thrive here if
You’re independent and genuinely curious, the kind of person who goes looking for the answer. You’re in this for the long game: pain work is hard, and you’re here because it matters, not for an easy ride. You’re cooperative and comfortable saying “I don’t know yet.” You care about your clients and you’re switched on about the commercial realities of this kind of work.
Requirements
Current AHPRA registration. Full working rights in Australia (we’re not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role).
How to apply, and what happens next
Apply here. Shortlisted applicants will be sent a short form to tell us more about you, which we’ll use to decide on a first interview with the department lead and our director. A second interview involves clinical case studies, sent ahead so you can prepare properly. We aim to get back to everyone within 2 to 3 weeks.
Pain is culturally sensitive work, and our team reflects the people we see. We welcome applications from culturally diverse, neurodivergent and gender-diverse clinicians, and we’ll make adjustments at any stage of the process.
