Achieve Something Great
This is a unique opportunity to provide LHD-wide strategic and operational leadership for clinical trials and drive the growth, coordination and continuous improvement of clinical trials activity across South Western Sydney Local Health District. The role is responsible for developing and implementing the SWSLHD Research Strategic Plan as it relates to Clinical Trials, strengthening governance and accreditation readiness under the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework, and embedding clinical trials as a core component of routine healthcare delivery. Through leadership of a centralised clinical trials coordination hub, capability building initiatives and district-wide performance oversight, this position will help improve access to innovative therapies and enhance patient-centred outcomes across the District.

Working closely with the District Director, Strategy, Planning & Research, Director Research & Partnerships, senior clinicians, researchers, the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, universities, NSW Health and industry partners, this role will strengthen clinical trials operations, financial sustainability, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and portfolio growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in building strategic partnerships, attracting sponsors and researchers, advancing multidisciplinary workforce capability, and enhancing the national and international profile of SWSLHD-led clinical trials.

Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will bring significant sector experience,

system-level leadership and a deep understanding of clinical trials governance, accreditation, corporate governance, quality and compliance requirements. They will demonstrate strong strategic and analytical capabilities, people leadership skills and experience leading complex programs, services or initiatives within a large and diverse healthcare environment. An understanding of the health system and the ability to navigate competing priorities while maintaining a focus on performance, risk management and service excellence will be highly valued.

Success in this role will require exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective partnerships across clinical, research, academic, government and industry sectors. The successful candidate will be committed to strengthening clinical trials capability, improving performance and participation, supporting workforce development and driving sustainable growth of the clinical trials portfolio in line with local and NSW Health priorities, while delivering meaningful impact for patients, staff and the broader community.
