About the Mental Health Division

The Mental Health Division at Austin Health provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria. Services are located across Austin Health campuses and within the community.



All mental health services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-oriented practice and supports decision-making. This approach to client wellbeing builds on the strengths of the individual working in partnership with their treating team. It encompasses the principles of self-determination and individualised treatment and care.

The Mental Health Division incorporates three main program areas:

- Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Services
- Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Services
- Specialty Services

About the role

As the Divisional Manager, Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Services (AOAMHS) you will play a key role as part of the of the Mental Health leadership team. Reporting to the Divisional Drector Mental Health, you will be responsible for the operational performance, financial, quality and risk management of your portfolio, including the creation of an operational environment that emulates and facilitates achievement of Austin Health’s vision.

Working closely with your team, you will:

- Partner with the Clinical Director to develop and deliver annual operational plans, service priorities, performance targets and resource allocation strategies.
- Lead transformation reform initiatives, including implementation of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
- Drive service innovation and continuous improvement by identifying new models of care, improving patient outcomes and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Use data, insights and business intelligence to monitor performance, identify emerging trends and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Inspire and develop multidisciplinary teams by fostering a high-performing, accountable and values-led culture that supports learning, wellbeing and excellence.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

- Extensive leadership experience in healthcare, with the ability to inspire high-performing teams and deliver exceptional service outcomes.




- Proven success leading organisational change and implementing innovative solutions that improve patient care and operational performance.
- Strong strategic and operational planning skills, with experience translating priorities into measurable outcomes.
- Confidence using data, insights and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Sound financial acumen, including budget management and understanding of healthcare funding models.
- Deep commitment to quality, risk management and patient-centred care, supported by strong governance experience.
