Client Centred Home Care (CCHC) provides person-centred disability supports across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. CCHC is committed to continuity of care, robust clinical governance, participant choice, dignity, safety and quality. Residential Care Officers form the day-to-day leadership link between participants, Support Workers, Case Managers, clinicians, families and external professionals within CCHC residential disability services.

Role Purpose

The Residential Care Officer (RCO) is CCHC’s in-house Team Leader role within supported accommodation. The RCO coordinates and oversees day-to-day support delivery within the residence, provides practical leadership and guidance to Support Workers, monitors participant wellbeing and documentation, and helps ensure participant plans, clinical instructions, household systems and service standards are implemented consistently.

The role combines residential team leadership with participant assessment, planning, monitoring, reporting and service coordination. The RCO may provide direct support when required; however, direct personal care is not the predominant function of the position.

Role distinction:

The Residential Care Officer (RCO) is CCHC’s residential Team Leader role, with responsibility for supporting the effective day-to-day functioning of the home. The role carries additional responsibility for coordination, oversight, participant monitoring, documentation & practical guidance of Support Workers.

The RCO helps ensure that:

- The general duties required for the safe & effective operation of the home are completed;
- Support Workers contribute appropriately to household routines, participant support requirements & shared responsibilities;
- Participant documentation, monitoring charts & records are completed to the required standard;
- Incidents are reported promptly & Support Workers are assisted to complete incident reports accurately where required;
- Changes in participant presentation,



care concerns, staff concerns, risks or service issues are escalated promptly to the Case Manager, Clinical Case Manager or Registered Nurse, as appropriate;
- Participant appointments are identified, booked or followed up in accordance with CCHC processes & relevant instructions;
- Medication, prescriptions, participant supplies, consumables & other essential household requirements are monitored & shortages are escalated before they affect care delivery;
- Communication between the residential team, Case Manager, clinical team & other relevant stakeholders is timely & clear. Liaise with Case Managers, Registered Nurses, allied health professionals, Support Coordinators, families, guardians, pharmacies, medical practices and other agencies within role scope.
- The home remains organised, adequately supplied, protected, respectful and functioning effectively for the participants who live there.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

- A relevant Diploma qualification in Community Services, Disability or a closely related field; or at least three years of relevant experience in a comparable residential disability role.
- Demonstrated 1 year relevant experience in Residential Care Officer role
- Demonstrated experience in participant assessment, support planning, progress monitoring, documentation and coordination of supports.
- Experience providing day-to-day guidance to Disability Support Workers or other care staff.
- Well-developed written communication, incident reporting, record-keeping and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with participants, families, colleagues, clinicians, allied health professionals and external agencies.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Australian driver licence and capacity to meet the travel requirements of the role.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and any other screening required for the participants supported.

Full-time Permanent Position.

Annual Salary $79500 - $85,000.

Pay: $79,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
