Clinical Nurse Manager

Bilyara is seeking an experienced and practical Full-time Clinical Nurse Manager to provide visible clinical leadership in our not-for-profit residential aged care home. Bilyara is a community owned, not for profit organisation committed to providing the highest standard of care to our residents in a comfortable home like setting. You will work as part of the Clinical Team and be supported by a professional management team and a committed resident centred board.
Located in the vibrant regional township of Cowra NSW, the organisation has 84 residential beds including a 14-bed secured dementia unit and Independent Living Units. Bilyara is one of the largest employers in the area with over 166 employees.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this is a key hands-on role for a Registered Nurse who enjoys being on the floor, knows how to direct and support care in real time, and takes pride in helping older people receive safe, respectful and compassionate care.

The role
You will work closely with the Director of Nursing, care teams, residents, families, GPs, Nurse Practitioners and other health professionals to lead and strengthen clinical care across the home.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing day-to-day clinical leadership across shifts.
- Being visible on the floor, monitoring care and responding to changing resident needs.
- Supporting clinical decision-making, prioritisation and escalation.
- Coaching and mentoring Registered Nurses and Personal Care Worker.
- Supporting less experienced RNs to build confidence and sound clinical judgement.
- Overseeing clinical documentation, care planning, medication practices and incident follow-up.
- Maintaining high standards in wound care, infection prevention and control,
continence care, dementia care, palliative care, falls prevention and clinical risk management.
- Building constructive relationships with residents, families and visiting clinicians.
- Contributing to audits, continuous improvement, compliance and clinical governance.
About you
You will be a confident, compassionate Registered Nurse with strong local aged care knowledge and the ability to lead calmly in a practical, busy environment.
Essential requirements:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- At least five years’ experience in Australian residential aged care; 10 or more years’ relevant experience will be highly regarded.
- Experience in a senior clinical, care management, shift-leadership or team-leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Australian residential aged care clinical practice, medication management, documentation, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Practical experience in nurse-initiated assessment and treatment, including approved over-the-counter and pharmacy-supported products, in line with policy, scope of practice and appropriate clinical advice.
- Confidence in identifying clinical deterioration, initiating nursing interventions and escalating appropriately to GPs, Nurse Practitioners, emergency services and families.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, support and develop nursing and care staff.
- Robust communication, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to high-quality care for older people.
- Full working rights in Australia. Bilyara is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
- Ability to meet relevant pre-employment screening, basic immunisation and aged care worker requirements.
