About the Role
The overall purpose of the Youth Worker, Residential Care is to provide care and/or support to children and young people in out of home care and/or living within at-risk families. The care and support provided by Youth Workers will enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities, support the development of positive self-regard, encourage community inclusion, strengthen relationships with family of origin, and contribute to placement stability.
This role involves being the primary caregiver during shift, ensuring the safety of young people in care, and imparting essential life skills to establish consistent routines. Collaborating with the Coordinator and Service Manager, you'll help develop trauma-informed interventions for these young people with complex needs.
What a day in the life of a Residential Youth Worker looks like:
- Planning and engaging in meaningful activities with the young person.
- Being a vital part of a cohesive team, dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals.
- Promoting valuable hygiene and nutrition.
- Maintaining daily case notes, handling administrative tasks, and preparing incident reports.
Permanent Part-Time rates starting at $40.48 per hour (excluding allowances).

Anglicare Southern Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest from passionate and dedicated Youth Workers interested in current and future Permanent Part-Time opportunities within our Residential Care services.
As a Residential Youth Worker, you will provide therapeutic, trauma-informed care and support to children and young people living in Out of Home Care. You will play a key role in creating safe, nurturing environments that promote wellbeing, positive development, and meaningful connections.
Successful applicants will be considered for a range of Permanent Part time vacancies across our Residential Care programs, with contracted hours, locations, and roster arrangements varying based on operational requirements.
Availability to work a rotating roster, including day, evening, weekend, sleepover, and/or awake overnight shifts, is essential. Shift times, work locations, and roster patterns may vary in line with service needs and school holiday periods.

Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
- A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children's Check QLD)
- Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
- Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- The ability to provide two recent referee reports from supervisors
- Availability to work day, evening and weekend shifts, including sleepovers or awake shifts, is essential for current operational needs. Availability to work 5 out of 7 days per week,
inclusive of every second weekend

- Responds to crises in a flexible manner while considering risk, safety and compliance requirements
- Demonstrates an understanding of providing care in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999
