Description:
The prospect
We are seeking a highly capable and commercially astute Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role is responsible for leading key financial reporting, accounting, compliance, and control functions while providing leadership to the Financial Accountant and Assistant Accountant.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic business environment and is looking to play a key role in supporting executive decision-making, statutory reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
Finance Leadership & Accounting
Lead, mentor, and develop the Financial Accountant and Assistant Accountant
Maintain the integrity of financial systems, accounting processes, and financial records
Oversee fixed asset accounting and register maintenance
Manage and review month-end close processes, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
Supervise joint venture accounting and monthly financial consolidations
Provide financial guidance and support to internal stakeholders across the business
Management & Corporate Reporting
Coordinate the preparation of monthly management reports
Deliver timely and accurate financial information to support executive and operational decision-making
Assist in the development and delivery of reports for senior management, finance providers, and the Board
Statutory Reporting & Compliance
Ensure all statutory reporting obligations are completed accurately and on time, including annual and interim financial reports and ASX reporting requirements
Coordinate with external auditors and other external finance stakeholders as required.
Contribute to sustainability and corporate reporting initiatives
Risk Management & Controls
Assist in identifying and managing financial reporting and operational risks
Maintain and apply appropriate financial controls and processes.
Support compliance with internal policies and financial reporting requirements.
Taxation & Business Improvement
Support the Tax Manager with income tax, indirect tax, FBT, payroll tax, GST, fuel tax credits, and other compliance obligations
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, commercial projects, and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function
Skills and Experiences:
About you
To be successful for this role, you will have:
A tertiary qualification in accounting
CA or CPA qualification
Demonstrated and relevant accounting experience
Previous experience within an ASX-listed company, preferably in the mining industry
A strong technical accounting and financial reporting background
Experience in audit, statutory reporting, and corporate compliance
Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP system skills, with experience in Pronto or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations highly regarded.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial acumen
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop finance professionals
The ability to manage competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
