The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, load, unload, and stack materials within the warehouse, yard, or production area. The role requires strict compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklift safely and efficiently at all times
- Load and unload goods from trucks and containers
- Move materials to designated storage areas
- Stack and organize products properly in warehouse/racking
- Check goods against delivery orders and packing lists
- Assist with stock movement and inventory control
- Conduct daily forklift inspection and basic maintenance checks
- Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards immediately
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work area
- Comply with company safety policies and procedures
Requirements (Australia – WHS Compliant)
- Must hold a valid Australian High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) – LF (Forklift Truck)
issued by the relevant State/Territory authority
- Licence must be current and in positive standing
- Minimum 1–2 years proven experience operating forklift in warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations
- Ability to conduct pre-start safety inspections and complete safety checklists
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe load handling, load restraint, and stacking procedures
- Ability to work in compliance with Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
- Strong awareness of workplace safety and hazard reporting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
