Job Description: Disability Support Workers
For disability services provided in the suburbs in Western Suburbs.

About the Role:
We are seeking someone confident in managing:
- Mental Health Support
- Companionship
- Assistance with domestic services
- Meal preparation
- Assistance with community access and transport services
- Manual Handling & Assistance with self-care services
- High-complex behaviours
- Substance misuse history
- De-escalation strategies & positive behaviour support
- Support needs of young adults with psychosocial disability
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-complex care services, ensuring adherence to safety and procedural guidelines.
- Provide person-centred support to a young adult participant with high-complex needs, including mental health and substance use challenges.
- Implement and adhere to Positive Behaviour Support Plans and safety protocols in all interactions
- Support with daily living tasks.
- Deliver overnight supervision (active nights)
to ensure participant wellbeing and emotional regulation.
- Assist in building the participant’s independence and life skills.
- Maintain clear, detailed shift notes and incident reports in line with NDIS standards.
- Use de-escalation strategies to manage behavioural episodes, remaining calm, empathetic, and responsive
- Foster a trust-based, trauma-informed relationship that encourages stability and growth
- Collaborate closely with the participant’s support coordinator, family, and allied health professionals to ensure consistent care
- Uphold and promote the participant’s rights, dignity, and choice in all aspects of support
What We Expect
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven expertise in High Complex behaviour participants.
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to engage with clients in a respectful and positive manner.
- Excellence in providing Personal Care assistance and Community access
- Experience with clients affected by substance abuse/addiction recovery.
- Experience working with trauma-informed care frameworks (highly regarded)
- A high level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
Mandatory Requirements
- Willing to travel more than 30mins for scheduled shifts.
- Current First Aid Certificate & CPR.
- VIC Working with Children Check (WWCC)
and NDIS Worker Check.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for commuting and client transportation.
- Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination certificate (including booster) and flu vaccination.
- Completion of NDIS Supporting Effective Communication and Worker Orientation modules.
Preferred Qualifications and requirements:
- Education or qualifications in Disability Support or Nursing.
- Certificate III in Disability and Individual Support preferred.
- Prior experience working with clients requiring high-complex care.
- Minimum of 4 days flexible availability across AM PM active nights and sleepovers.
- WILLING TO START IMMEDITALY.
