Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) provides healthcare services to more than 265,000 people across Far North Queensland and is the primary provider of health services for the Cairns, Tablelands and Cassowary Coast regions. With more than 8,000 staff, 9 hospitals and over 30 regional, rural and remote health facilities, CHHHS delivers a broad range of healthcare services across one of Australia's most diverse and geographically expansive regions.
Cairns Hospital is entering a significant period of growth and transformation, with a major expansion set to enhance the hospital's capacity and meet the future healthcare needs of the region. This landmark investment will deliver new clinical infrastructure, expanded inpatient and outpatient services, additional operating theatres and modern education and research facilities, creating a unique opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare delivery in Far North Queensland.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will....
Develop and deliver the medical services operating plan, aligning workforce, clinical governance and service improvement priorities with the Cairns and Hinterland and Hospital and Health Service strategy, service agreement and local performance framework.
Lead medical participation in clinical governance, credentialing and scope of clinical practice processes, skilled standards and accreditation, in collaboration with the senior medical governance function and authorised committees.
Assign, monitor and evaluate medical improvement actions arising from incidents,
complaints, accreditation and external reviews, ensuring timely completion and evidence of sustained improvement.
Lead medical workforce planning, recruitment, retention, succession and capability development with Clinical Directors, People and Culture, finance and relevant rural medical leaders.
Support research governance, evaluation and translation of evidence into practice. Partner with digital health and innovation leaders on clinically safe technology adoption and new models of care.
