THE ROLE
As a manager, in the Office for Veterans, you will lead policy, program delivery, stakeholder engagement and intergovernmental coordination to improve recognition,
participation and wellbeing outcomes for Victorian veterans and their families.
You will provide strategic and operational advice to support the Minister for Veterans and the boarder office including oversights of veterans grants and commemoration programs secretariat and governance support to the Victorian Veterans Council and support to the Shrine of Remembrance.
Working across the department and with government, veteran and community stakeholders, you will facilitate effective collaboration and coordinate critical projects and emerging priorities, including Victoria's engagement in national veteran policy reforms and state-relevant responses to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
The role operates within a dynamic environment that requires a capacity to manage multiple workstreams and significant program budgets, exercise sound judgement, work with a high degree of autonomy, and proactively develop effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director, you will lead and support a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative culture and modelling the behaviours and values expected of departmental leaders.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Actively participate in the strategic planning of the Office and support a positive organisational culture,
contributing to strategic decision-making process and performance excellence within the Office.
- Develop, manage and evaluate complex policy and program initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters, including effective and proactive identification and management of risks.
- Report on program and evaluation outcomes and high-priority demand issues, risks and trends, including preparation of clear, succinct reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions, options papers and project updates for governance groups, senior executive staff and Ministers.
