King Scrap Metals is looking for an experienced and reliable Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team at our busy scrap metal yard in Malaga, WA.

This is a hands-on role suited to a mechanic who enjoys working around heavy machinery, trucks and mobile plant and is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial workplace.

You will play an important role in keeping our machinery and equipment operating safely and efficiently, minimising downtime and ensuring our yard continues to run smoothly.

THE ROLE

Your responsibilities will include:

- Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy diesel machinery and equipment
- Carrying out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Attending to breakdowns and carrying out repairs as required
- Maintaining and repairing trucks, loaders, excavators and other mobile plant
- Inspecting equipment and identifying potential mechanical issues before they become major problems
- Completing maintenance records and reporting faults or repair requirements
- Working closely with yard management and operators to minimise equipment downtime
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop/work area

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who is:

- Qualified as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Fitter / Mobile Plant Mechanic
- Experienced working on heavy machinery and/or mobile plant
- Confident diagnosing and repairing mechanical and hydraulic systems




- Able to work independently and take ownership of maintenance and repairs
- Reliable, practical and safety-conscious
- Able to work in a busy industrial environment
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a team
- Comfortable working outdoors and around heavy equipment
- Someone who takes pride in doing quality work and keeping machinery running

Experience in scrap metal, earthmoving, waste, transport, quarrying or other heavy industrial environments would be highly regarded.
