Position Summary

The Welder / Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, welding, assembling, and finishing metal components and structures according to drawings, specifications, and production requirements. The role requires the ability to accurately measure, cut, prepare, weld, and assemble various metal materials while maintaining high standards of quality and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, workshop drawings, and job specifications.
- Measure and mark materials accurately according to required dimensions.
- Cut, grind, drill, bend, and prepare metal materials for fabrication.
- Perform welding using appropriate welding techniques and equipment, including MIG, TIG, and/or ARC welding as required.
- Fabricate and assemble steel, aluminium, and other metal components.
- Set up and operate welding machines, grinders, drills, cutting equipment, and other workshop machinery.
- Tack and weld components accurately to ensure correct alignment and dimensions.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality, accuracy, and defects.
- Grind, clean, and finish welded surfaces as required.
- Repair or modify fabricated components where necessary.
- Follow engineering drawings, measurements, tolerances, and customer specifications.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and positioning materials and finished products when required.




- Maintain a clean, organised, and protected work area.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report faulty equipment, hazards, damaged materials, or quality issues to the supervisor.
- Complete production and job documentation where required.
- Work effectively with other fabricators, welders, supervisors, and production staff.
- Meet production schedules and required quality standards.
