About the Role
We are seeking an experienced PACU/Recovery Registered Nurse to provide safe, high-quality post-operative care to patients recovering from anaesthesia and surgery. You will monitor patients closely, manage pain and post-operative needs, identify clinical changes, and work closely with the anaesthetic and theatre teams to ensure a safe and smooth recovery.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe and high-quality post-operative care to patients in PACU/Recovery.
- Monitor patients following anaesthesia, including airway, breathing, circulation, consciousness and vital signs.
- Assess and manage pain, nausea and other post-operative needs.
- Recognise and respond promptly to clinical deterioration or complications.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and clinical records.
- Communicate effectively with anaesthetists, surgeons and the multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure safe handover and transfer of patients to the ward or other appropriate care area.
Requirements of the Role
- At least 12 months of surgical ward experience.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
- High level communication skills to build positive relationships and deliver quality care.
You will be required to have or be willing to obtain:
- Verification of eligibility to work in Australia.
- Identification check validation.
- Police check clearance.
