Ready for your next step in hospitality management?

An exciting opportunity has opened up for an Assistant Venue Manager to join the leadership team at Willowdale Hotel.

We’re looking for someone who loves being on the floor, enjoys leading people and wants to build a genuine career in venue management.

This is a casual position with approximately 30–38 hours per week available for the right person, with an immediate start available.

More importantly, it comes at a very exciting time for Monarch Hotels.

Our group is continuing to grow, with two additional venues opening next year, creating genuine opportunities for strong managers who want to develop, take on greater responsibility and grow with us.

About Willowdale Hotel

Willowdale Hotel is a large, fast-paced hospitality venue in Sydney’s South West, bringing together food, beverage, gaming, entertainment, functions and family experiences under one roof.

No two shifts are exactly the same.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys that energy and wants to be part of a management team focused on continuing to lift the venue, strengthen the team and create an experience customers genuinely want to come back for.

The Role

As Assistant Venue Manager, you’ll work closely with our Operations Manager and wider management team across the day-to-day operation of the venue.

This is a hands-on leadership position.

We don’t want managers hiding in the office. We want someone who is visible, engaged with the team, talking to customers, noticing what is happening around the venue and taking ownership when something needs attention.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading and supporting FOH staff during service
- Acting as Manager on Duty when required
- Delivering strong customer service and handling guest concerns professionally
- Coordinating staff and ensuring the venue is operating effectively
- Supporting bars, gaming, TAB/Keno and other operational areas
- Opening and closing procedures

- Cash handling and end-of-shift procedures
- Incident management and reporting
- Maintaining strong liquor, gaming, WHS and venue compliance standards
- Monitoring venue presentation, cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Supporting functions, promotions and entertainment
- Assisting with staff training and development
- Helping management control wages and deploy staff appropriately based on trade
- Identifying problems early and taking ownership of getting them resolved
- Leading by example and helping create a positive, accountable team culture

Our internal leadership approach is very much about leading by example, owning the outcome, developing great people and leaving the venue better than you found it.

Who We’re Looking For

You might already be an Assistant Venue Manager looking for your next challenge, or you may be a strong Duty Manager or Supervisor who is ready to step up.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

- Have previous leadership experience within a pub, hotel, club or busy hospitality venue
- Are confident leading staff during busy services
- Have strong customer service instincts
- Are comfortable making decisions and solving problems on shift
- Lead from the floor and aren’t afraid to jump in when the team needs help
- Communicate clearly and professionally
- Have solid attention to detail
- Are reliable, organised and accountable
- Enjoy developing and motivating people
- Can work nights, weekends and public holidays as part of a rotating roster
- Want to continue learning and progressing within hospitality management

Licences & Compliance

A current NSW RSA and RCG will be required for the role.

Additional gaming/responsible gambling qualifications and broader venue-management accreditation will be highly regarded, and our expectation is that managers continue developing their compliance knowledge as they progress. Monarch currently expects managers and supervisors in relevant venues to remain across gaming and responsible-gambling training requirements.
