Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), the world's largest humanitarian airline, has used light aircraft to deliver help, hope and healing in over 30 developing countries worldwide for more than 75 years! MAF transports patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world's remotest regions and places of deepest human need - places where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline.
One of these places is Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. The traditional land of the Yolngu people, it's a vast wilderness area of rocky escarpments, gorges, rivers and waterfalls. MAF has served the people of Arnhem Land for over 45 years by sharing God’s love through aviation and technology.
To continue providing this valuable service we need an Experienced Pilot. This role urgently needs to be filled. Priority processing and consideration will be given to the right candidate.
In this role, you will safely and efficiently operate MAF aircraft in remote and challenging environments, conduct mission flights in accordance with MAF procedures, provide customer-focused aviation services, participate in quality and safety management systems, support operational efficiency through additional operational, quality and safety responsibilities, and assist in delivering medical, humanitarian and Christian mission services to isolated communities.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide a professional aviation service to customers by:
- Conducting mission flights in accordance with MAF procedures
- Providing a customer focused flight service
- Actively participating in MAF’s quality and safety management systems
- Liaising with Operations during the planning and booking processes
To be available for flying duties by:
- Maintaining flying qualifications in accordance with MAF and national regulations.
- Ensuring national licensing and medical requirements are met
- Complying with national and MAF flight and duty times requirements
- Reporting for duty adequately rested and prepared for flight
To assist with operational efficiency, effectiveness and safety of the programme by:
- Undertaking, when requested by the Line Manager, the role and responsibilities of managing and overseeing part or whole of the Flight Operations Department
- Ensuring Good stewardship of resources is exercised throughout Operations so that people, material and finances are properly utilised
- Participating in ground based support functions e.g. Quality, Security, Safety, Maintaining aircraft in flight documentation etc.
- MAF expects a willingness to be trained for other roles in the programme that will enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and safety of the operations as requested by the PM
- Undertaking the role of programme Safety and or Quality Manager when requested by the Line Manager
To maintain and improve personal qualified standards by:
- Participating in and ensuring timely completion of CPD modules
- Completing the proficiency flight checks required by MAF regulations
- Participating in MAF organised training events as required
- Reviewing internally and externally published aviation safety and training material
- Undertaking further training and upgrade courses as requested by programme management e.g. Check Pilot or Marginal Airstrip Training.
Essential Qualifications:
- ICAO Commercial Pilots License with instrument rating
- Aviation Medical - Class 1
- Minimum English proficiency level 4
Essential Experience:
- Minimum 1000 flight hours including 500 hours PIC
- Aptitude in verbal and numerical reasoning
- Demonstrated proficiency in and knowledge of aircraft performance and loading, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, weather, aircraft instrumentation, crew/cockpit resource management, pilot decision making, safety and quality systems
Desired Experience:
- Experience and recent proficiency in the operation of small aircraft to CPL standards
- Some experience of working in commercial or corporate aviation highly recommended

Wage:
AUD $87,900
Job Types: Contract, Full-time
