About Atomic Projects
Atomic Projects is a Sydney Class 2 remedial builder delivering strata, façade, fire safety and capital works projects from $500k to $2M. We self-deliver with our own crews, real systems and fast decisions — and we promote from within, which is exactly why this seat exists.
About the Role
This is a training seat. You are not expected to walk in running a job — you are expected to walk out of it, in 12 to 24 months, as a Site Supervisor.
You'll be paired with an experienced site leader on live remedial projects across Sydney, and you'll learn the job by doing the parts of it you're ready for, then more. Week one that might be site diaries, access notices and chasing a subbie to confirm Thursday. Six months in it's running a front on your own, booking and closing hold points, and holding a two-week lookahead that other people rely on.
Two paths in, and we're genuinely open to both. You might be a leading hand, foreman or tradesperson who already knows how a site runs and wants off the tools before your body makes the decision for you. Or you might have a construction management qualification and need the site time that no classroom gives you. Tell us which one you are and we'll pitch the training plan at you, not at a generic starter.
What this job is not: you will not be pricing variations, chasing claims or arguing subbie rates. Commercial sits with the Project Manager and Contracts Administrator. Your side is delivery, quality, safety and programme — and learning to own them. We'd rather teach you that properly than hand you a spreadsheet and call it development.
You'll report to the Construction Manager, with a named site leader as your day-to-day mentor.
Key Responsibilities
Scaling up as you're ready:
- Daily site diaries — labour, weather, deliveries, instructions, delays, photos. This is the builder's evidence trail and you'll learn why it matters
- Helping build and then owning the two-week lookahead for your front
- Booking, witnessing and closing out QA hold points — flood tests, engineer inspections, third-party verifications
- Coordinating subcontractors and deliveries on a front,
and sorting the clashes before they cost a day
- Safety on site — pre-starts, SWMS reviews, incident reporting in SafetyCulture
- Access notices and the resident interface on occupied strata buildings
- Photographing and notifying anything found on site that wasn't in the scope, the same day
- Keeping QA records current in Notion, and learning the standard they have to meet
Skills/Requirements
What you need on day one:
- Construction Induction White Card and a current Australian driver's licence
- Right to work in Australia
- Either real site experience (as a tradesperson, leading hand, foreman or offsider) or a construction management / building qualification
- Able to read and interpret plans
- Able to write a explicit sentence — diaries, notices and emails are a real part of this job
- Organised enough to be trusted with a date, and honest enough to flag a problem the day you see it rather than the week after
- Comfortable on a phone and a laptop — programme, QA and diary apps
Desirable (not essential):
- Working at Heights, EWP, First Aid — funded if you don't have them
- Cert IV in Building and Construction, or a construction management degree/diploma
- Any exposure to waterproofing, concrete repair or façade sequencing
- Experience on occupied buildings, where residents are living through the works
What's On Offer
- $80,000–$95,000 + 12% super, permanent full-time, reviewed at 6 and 12 months
- A real pay ladder, not a vague promise: this seat graduates into our Site Supervisor band of $86,944–$120,000 + super as you qualify, and from there to Site Manager grade
- A named mentor and a written 30/60/90 plan — you'll know what you're being measured on from week one
- Tickets funded — Working at Heights, EWP, First Aid, and we'll support a Cert IV if you want it
- Four weeks annual leave, 10 days personal leave, NSW public holidays
- Real systems behind you — OnlineGantt programming, Notion QA, SafetyCulture, written method statements
- A steady Sydney pipeline of strata, balcony, façade and capital works — home every night, no FIFO, no interstate
- Straight line to the Construction Manager and the Director. Small company, no layers, decisions get made
How to Apply
Email your CV to
[email protected] with the subject line "Junior Site Manager – [the suburb you live in]". In a few lines, tell us: whether you're coming off the tools or out of study, the most responsibility you've been given on a site so far, and what you want to be running in three years. No cover letter needed — we read and reply to everyone.
Shortlisted applicants: a phone chat → a half day on a live Sydney site with the team you'd be learning from → an offer.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
Application Question(s):
- Are you coming into this role off the tools (tradesperson, leading hand, foreman or offsider), or out of study (construction management or building qualification)? Tell us which, and roughly how long you've been doing it.
- How many years have you spent on construction sites in any capacity?
- What is the most responsibility you have been given on a site so far? For example running a crew or a work front, ordering materials, booking a subcontractor, or keeping the site diary.
- Are you able to travel reliably to sites across the Sydney metropolitan area?
- This role involves attending sites daily and accessing scaffold and elevated work areas. Are you able to perform these duties, with or without reasonable adjustment?
- What is your notice period, or the earliest date you could start?
- You are told a balcony has to be closed up on Friday, but the inspection that is meant to happen before it gets covered has not been done. In two sentences: what do you do, and who do you tell?
