Experienced VFFS Service Technicians Wanted

We are seeking an experienced Service Technician with demonstrated hands-on experience servicing Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) packaging machinery.

This position is specifically suited to a technician who has installed, commissioned, maintained and repaired VFFS machines within the food, pharmaceutical, FMCG, manufacturing or packaging industry.

General maintenance experience alone will not be sufficient. Applicants must have practical experience diagnosing and repairing VFFS packaging equipment.

About the Role

You will provide technical support to customers across the installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance and breakdown repair of vertical bagging and automated packaging systems.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, along with the ability to diagnose issues involving film feeding, bag forming, product filling, sealing, cutting and machine controls.

Key Responsibilities

- Service, maintain and repair Vertical Form Fill Seal machinery.
- Install, commission and test recent VFFS packaging equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control-system faults.
- Attend customer breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Complete preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
- Troubleshoot film tracking, film tension and registration issues.
- Diagnose faults involving forming tubes, sealing jaws, heaters, cutters and pulling belts.
- Resolve inconsistent bag length, poor seals, product-in-seal and product-filling issues.
- Service associated multihead weighers, auger fillers,



volumetric fillers and conveyors.
- Troubleshoot sensors, motors, variable-speed drives, servo drives and pneumatic components.
- Assist with PLC and HMI fault finding, parameter adjustments and basic programming where required.
- Complete machinery changeovers, calibration and performance testing.
- Identify defective or worn components and recommend replacement parts.
- Train customer operators and maintenance teams in the correct use of equipment.
- Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records and parts documentation.
- Provide professional technical support and build strong customer relationships.
- Follow all site safety, isolation and lockout procedures.

Essential Experience

To be considered, you must have:

- Previous field-service or maintenance experience working directly with VFFS machinery.
- Experience diagnosing faults across the complete VFFS operating process.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capabilities.
- Practical knowledge of pneumatic systems and automated machinery.
- Experience reading electrical schematics, technical drawings and machinery manuals.
- The ability to work independently at customer sites.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- A current Australian driver’s licence.
- Full Australian working rights.

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience with any of the following will be highly regarded:





- Vertical baggers and VFFS packaging machines.
- Multihead combination weighers.
- Auger, volumetric or liquid filling systems.
- Checkweighers and metal-detection equipment.
- Product infeed systems and conveyors.
- PLCs and HMIs.
- Servo motors and variable-speed drives.
- Heat-sealing systems, printers, coders and labelling equipment.
- Food, pharmaceutical, FMCG or regulated manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

A relevant trade or technical qualification is preferred, including:

- Electrical trade qualification.
- Mechanical fitting qualification.
- Mechatronics qualification.
- Industrial maintenance qualification.
- Certificate III or higher in a related technical discipline.

An electrical licence, restricted electrical licence or disconnect/reconnect licence would be advantageous.
