Primary objective
Lead the delivery of reform and specialist projects in adult correctional services that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the
correctional services system to improve outcomes for offenders and reduce recidivism.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the planning, implementation and delivery of reform and specialist projects across adult correctional services.
2. Provide comprehensive,



timely and quality research and advice to support evidence-based program and system development and

reform to support efficiency and improved service delivery in adult correctional services and improve offender outcomes.
3. Identify interpret and apply legislation, strategy, theory, practice models and principles, including cultural to adult correctional services

systems and programs.
4. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on relevant issues and projects and develop and maintain effective

relationships with NT Government officers and relevant stakeholders.
5. Preparation of high-level documents, reports, briefings and correspondence to a variety of audiences, including executives.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse cultures, develop

effective relationships, alongside resolving potential conflict situations in a constructive manner.
2. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading reform projects related to the justice system, public health or human services,

including facilitating consultation and building and maintaining working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
3.



Demonstrated critical analysis skills and experience in interpreting and producing data and research analysis and ideas clearly and

fluently for relevant audiences.
4. Highly developed writing skills, with demonstrated experience supporting the production of high-level reports, briefings,

correspondence and program strategy.
5. Proven ability to work independently and collaborate and work as part of a team, with well-developed organisational skills to balance

multiple tasks and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
6. Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to exercise discretion, initiative, innovation, flexibility and confidentiality.
7. Completion of formal cross-cultural training, with demonstrated understanding of the context of service delivery in the Northern

Territory and knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, family and community considerations in the delivery of adult
corrections.

Desirable
1. Bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification in criminology, public health, human services.
2. Experience in business process improvement and program development and implementation.
