The Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions across a range of enterprise and mission-critical platforms.

This ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong Java development expertise, experience building APIs and microservices, and a passion for creating secure, high-performing applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural decisions, and play a key role throughout the full software development lifecycle.

You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions while ensuring quality, performance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure software solutions across multiple platforms.
- Build and maintain high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable codebases.
- Develop and deploy APIs and microservices using modern development frameworks.




- Participate in software architecture, technical design, and solution planning activities.
- Review code, provide technical guidance, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Break down business and product requirements into user stories and technical deliverables.
- Automate software build, testing, and deployment processes.
- Support CI/CD pipeline development and continuous delivery initiatives.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application and platform issues.
- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams to design practical solutions.
- Produce technical documentation, design artefacts, and operational support documentation.
- Research emerging technologies and contribute to innovation initiatives.
- Support system performance tuning, optimisation, and platform reliability improvements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Identify, manage, and escalate risks that may impact project delivery.

What You'll Need

- Robust commercial experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices using frameworks such as Spring Boot.




- Experience working within the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Experience with containerisation technologies including Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Experience working with messaging technologies such as Kafka and ActiveMQ.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases including:
- MySQL
- MongoDB
- ClickHouse

- Experience with version control and source code management tools such as Git, BitBucket, or GitLab.
- Experience working with DevOps tooling including:

- Bamboo
- Jira
- SonarQube
- Veracode

- Experience developing secure, high-performance, and scalable applications.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced delivery environment.

Preferred Skills

- Commercial experience developing applications in Golang.
- Experience working with high-performance network protocols and data processing systems.
- Experience with API gateway technologies such as WSO2 or NGINX.
- Experience working within complex government, defence, or secure enterprise environments.
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures and containerised application delivery.
- Experience contributing to technical roadmaps, strategic initiatives, and innovation programs.

Security Clearance Requirements Candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a current NV1 or NV2 Australian Government Security Clearance to be considered.
