Supreme Tiling at Marsden, QLD, is a licensed wall and floor tiling and waterproofing business with more than 20 years of experience on projects across Brisbane and the wider Queensland region. Its team works on homes, apartments, offices, retail fit-outs and other commercial and industrial spaces, taking on new builds, full and partial renovations, patios, halls and multi-room floor installations. Bathrooms and wet areas are a real strength, as are kitchen splashbacks, mosaic feature walls and large-format floors, laid in ceramic, porcelain and natural stone such as marble, granite, sandstone and terracotta. Clients also lean on the team for advice on tile selection and layout. The business has built its name on quick turnarounds, transparent pricing and word-of-mouth referrals, and it is now looking for an experienced Wall and Floor Tiler to join the team.
Wall and Floor Tiler | Supreme Tiling | Marsden, QLD
In this role you will:
- Install waterproofing membranes in showers, bathrooms, laundries, balconies and other wet areas, including primers, bond breakers, reinforcement at junctions and puddle flanges, and allow full cure time before any tile goes down so each area stays leak-free and compliant.
- Strip out existing tiles, old grout lines and leftover adhesive on renovation jobs, then patch cracks, fill voids and hollows, grind back high spots and clean the substrate until it is sound, flat and ready for new work.
- Work from builders' drawings, house plans and client selections, check dimensions on site, set datum and centre lines, and plan each room so cuts are balanced and the pattern sits correctly at doorways, benchtops and focal walls.
- Bed and screed sand and cement bases to achieve correct falls to floor wastes in showers,
bathrooms and outdoor areas, and lay cement-based floor finishes, including granolithic or terrazzo-style toppings, where a project specifies them.
- Cut, notch, mitre and drill tiles with wet saws, angle grinders, manual cutters and diamond core bits to fit edges, external corners, shower niches and window reveals, and to fit neatly around tapware, pipes, floor wastes and other fixtures.
- Select and mix the right adhesive for each tile and substrate, trowel it to the correct bed depth, back-butter where required and press tiles firmly into place, achieving full coverage under large-format porcelain and natural stone.
- Set out mosaic sheets and coloured tiles to form herringbone, chevron, border and other decorative patterns on feature walls, splashbacks, niches and floors, following the design the client has chosen.
- Keep every course straight, level and evenly gapped using spacers, levelling clips, string lines and laser levels, checking lippage and joint widths as the work progresses so the finished surface is flat and true.
- Fill joints with grout in the specified colour, run flexible sealant along movement and perimeter joints, wash off surplus grout and haze, then inspect the finished area and rectify any defects before handover.
- Tile kitchen splashbacks, living areas, halls, patios and whole-home floors on recent builds and renovations,
and complete larger wall and floor packages for offices, retail stores and apartment projects.
- Check tile deliveries against the order and the client's selections, confirm batch and shade consistency, and work out quantities of tiles, adhesive, grout and membrane so jobs are not held up.
- Coordinate site sequencing with builders, plumbers and other trades, and talk homeowners through layout options, finish details and how to care for their new surfaces.
- Work safely with the correct PPE, use wet cutting and dust extraction to control silica dust, protect finished work and surrounding fixtures, keep the site tidy, and look after saws, cutters, mixers and hand tools.
About you:
- At least 1 year of experience working as a Wall and Floor Tiler on residential or commercial projects.
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV, preferably in wall and floor tiling.
Personal attributes:
- Equally at ease working on your own or alongside the rest of the team.
- Safety-conscious, tidy and respectful of clients' homes and workplaces.
- Comfortable with the physical side of the trade, including kneeling, lifting and full days on site.
- Keen to learn new products, tile formats and installation methods.
Salary & Employment Conditions:
- Permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week).
- $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum.
