The Animal Attendant is integral to providing the highest level of animal care, maintaining hygienic animal housing conditions, delivering excellent customer service and administrative support as required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Walking and exercising animals
- Feeding animals
- Grooming and washing animals
- Monitoring, addressing and reporting animal welfare and health of animals
- Completing daily report accurately
- Administering medication to animals and providing pet first aid (pending level/training)
- Liaise with mobile vets/travel to emergency vet if needed
- Cleaning and maintenance of animal boarding facilities and animal care products
- Operation of pickup and delivery vehicle as required
- Customer service in person, over the phone and via email
- Administrative support- including bookings, processing payments, maintaining vaccination records, photo reporting, adding social media posts and data entry.
- Other tasks as requested by management

- Genuine interest in animals and their care
- Able to read and react to animal behaviour
- Can work with all animal types/breeds including reptiles
- Practiced animal husbandry skills
- Active person with high energy levels to work in a rapid paced environment
- High level of flexibility
- Excellent customer service skills
- Take direction where required
- Ability to work within a team efficiently
- Basic to intermediate to Office suite skills (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Maintain a high level of integrity at all times and manage sensitive information appropriately
Qualifications & Licences ( desired not essential)
- Pet First Aid
- First aid certificate
- Current driver’s licence
Physical Requirements
- Any allergic condition that would be aggravated from exposure or through contact with animals or
chemicals used to sanitize facilities, vehicles or equipment, may be a disqualification
- May be required to sit for long periods of time
- For safety reasons, any team members who falls pregnant during their employment must alert
management immediately to manage WHS within their role and contact with certain animals
- Must stand, walk, bend and stoop frequently to perform duties. Have the ability to perform
prolonged strenuous physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 20 kgs
alone or up to 20 kgs with the help of fellow employees for short distances
Working Conditions
- Must be able to deal with an often times emotion-charged public and carry a fast paced and
changing work load, which at times can be stressful
- By nature of the industry, there may be occasional exposure to injured, sick, unruly and/or
dangerous animals in addition to exposure to parasites (i.e. fleas)
- Applications for leave or absence over peak periods (school holidays) are likely to be denied due to
the nature of the role
Pay: $27.08 – $38.29 per hour
