About usInverleigh Media creates sports and entertainment content for audiences around the world.

Our rugby department produces content for fans who live and breathe the game, while our broader YouTube team works across a range of sports, channels and formats.

We're looking for an Assistant Editor to join the team and help keep both running smoothly.

About the roleYou'll spend most of your time working with our rugby department, cutting match highlights, analysis pieces, features and Shorts, while also supporting our broader YouTube team when required.

It's a fast-paced role with tight turnarounds, particularly around match days. It would suit someone who loves editing, understands what keeps viewers watching online and wants to develop their skills in a professional sports media environment.

We're open to both junior applicants and people with some professional experience. If you're early in your career, we'll provide training and mentoring. If you've already spent some time working as an editor, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility and creative ownership.

What you'll do

- Edit rugby content including highlights, breakdowns, reaction videos, features and Shorts, often to quick deadlines around match days
- Assist our Editors with ingest, logging, organising footage, syncing, rough cuts and project management
- Add graphics, titles, captions, music and sound design, along with basic colour correction
- Prepare and deliver content for long-form YouTube and short-form platforms including YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Reels
- Support our broader YouTube team with edits and other channels when required

- Keep projects, footage and media organised so assets can be easily found and reused
- Respond to feedback and turn revisions around quickly
- Keep up with YouTube trends, formats and audience-retention techniques

What we're looking for
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro
- A portfolio or showreel demonstrating your editing ability — YouTube or sports content is a bonus
- An understanding of pacing, storytelling and what keeps viewers watching online
- A good eye for detail and an organised approach to media management
- The ability to work quickly and calmly under deadline pressure
- Good communication skills and a team-first attitude
- A genuine interest in sport — it doesn't necessarily have to be rugby

Nice to have
- Experience with DaVinci Resolve, After Effects or Photoshop
- Experience editing sports, highlights or other quick-turnaround content
- An understanding of YouTube analytics including retention, CTR and audience behaviour
- Thumbnail design experience

What we offer
- $55,000–$60,000 + super, depending on experience
- A full-time, in-office role based in South Melbourne
- Training, mentoring and room to grow into an Editor role
- Hands-on experience producing content for established sports brands and audiences
- The opportunity to work across both long-form and short-form digital content
- A creative, sports-focused working environment

How to applySend us your CV and a link to your showreel or portfolio, along with a short note telling us why you'd be a great fit. And if you have one, tell us your favourite rugby team.
